Fire and Thunder - Lavastone

Fire and Thunder - Lavastone

“In the Beginning,
The Word was red,
And the sound was thunder.”

— John O'Donohue, In Praise of Fire

The crucifix of this chaplet is hand-cast from a 17c Russian original, in solid bronze. It is double-sided, thick and substantial.

The Pater Bead is spiral-carved wood. The Ave beads are black lava, with pits and pocks that formed as the molten rock cooled.

Throughout the chaplet are vividly red beads of magnesite, and beads of matte glass. The ribbed beads are solid brass. The connecting rings are solid copper and bronze.
