Instrument of Peace - Bethlehem Olivewood

Instrument of Peace - Bethlehem Olivewood

"Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace..."
— Saint Francis of Assisi

"May a constant prayer for peace rise in the Church with the praying of the rosary..."
— Pope John Paul II,
October 14, 2001

The simple crucifix of this chaplet is lightly patterned, front and back. The initials “INRI” are an abbreviation of the title that Pontius Pilot himself ordered affixed to the cross: "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews" — for the full story on that, see John 19:19-22. The crucifix is solid bronze.

All the prayer beads are olivewood. Alongside the Pater bead are beads of tortoise matte glass and solid brass. Separating the Aves are smaller beads of matte glass in various muted colors, and beads of brass.

The olivewood beads are carved in Israel of wood pruned from the ancient olive trees in Bethlehem. No trees were harmed in the harvesting of this wood — pruning the olive trees is essential to their health and continued fruitfulness.
