Batik Bone and Ebony

Batik Bone and Ebony

The Kenyan Mud Batik Paters of this rosary are the nicest ones we've ever seen. The beads are bone, cheerily patterned with crosses, dots, and wavy lines, and are pleasantly varied in size. They get their name from the dye used to color them: it's made from an iron-rich mud. The Paters are set between beads of old-style solid French brass.

The Aves are Tiger Ebony, and among these matte glass beads in a variety of subtle colors.

The openwork Coptic cross is hand-cast from a 19th century Ethiopian antique, in solid bronze.
